 LU
ROBITAILLE's passion is clearly portrayed in her paintings.
"I love water but I like to capture
all the elements of nature. I'm a realist. I like the reality of
nature and portray it that way. Georgian Bay has so much to offer
artists, so many terrains."
A lifetime spent on the bay and "up the shore' has served as
Lu's inspiration. Even as a little girl Lu noticed nature. She was
inspired by the beauty of the Bay, its spirits, its stories, its
spectacular scenery.
Lu Robitaille was born in the historic town of Penetanguishene,
Ontario, and spent childhood summers on Sawlog Bay. She and her
husband raised their two children at an isolated lodge on Tadenac
Bay, and she now has a home studio amid the rolling hills and forests
of Cedar Brook Farm, her family's fish farm in Huronia.
Her deep feelings for Georgian Bay live in the art she creates;
her rocks and water reflect the love and warmth she has for this
unique part of Canada. She has also developed a great affection
for the character of old farms and lighthouses, but her passion
is the Bay.
While primarily known for her miniature paintings, Lu has developed
a style and format based on watercolour for her medium. She also
paints larger pieces and commissions that now hang in homes and
collections from Switzerland to California, England to the Bahamas.
A veteran of dozens of juried exhibitions, private
showings and public shows, Lu has won international awards and a
place in the hearts of art afficionados everywhere.
This increased international exposure has brought Lu's work global
recognition. It can be found in the collection of Her Excellency, former
Governor General of Canada, Adrienne Clarkson.
"I have a great desire to share
the beauty and vastness of Georgian Bay with everyone. Painting
has provided me with this wonderful opportunity. Whether it's a
dull rainy day, a crisp winter afternoon, a wild fall storm, or
a blistering hot summer day, I see beauty in it all. My reward is
to see people smile."
